Libido-Enhancing Foods

energy libido micronutrients nitric oxide Jan 27, 2022

There are many foods that naturally stoke our sexual energy!

In a world where we are more stressed than ever and exhausted from the go go go and do do do energy in the masculine world of hustle culture and the “get shit done” attitudes, sex and intimacy are often the last things on our radar.

When you’re:::

  • Exhausted
  • Suffering from sluggish energy all day
  • Busy tending to all the aspects of your life (work, kids, husband, friends, exercise, personal growth/development, house, cooking, meal prepping, plus like 23,734 other things)

... little more is sexier than the thought of a hot bath (by yourself for some friggin peace and quiet already!!) by candlelight, listening to soothing music, soaking all your troubles away, followed by curling up in your coziest PJs and falling asleep to your book.

OUR JUICY LIBIDOS DON'T JUST HAPPEN, LADIES.

WE NEED TO PRIORITIZE OUR JUICY LIBIDOS!

And one of my favorite ways to do that is with food!

Here are some of my favorite foods that have fabulous aphrodisiac qualities that you will want to incorporate in your repertoire super stat!

Libido Enhancing Foods!

Watermelon

Watermelon has a high concentration of citrulline, a compound that naturally relaxes and has a dilating effect on the blood vessels. It also contains lycopene, an antioxidant which also relaxes the blood vessels and improves blood flow to the reproductive organs. Remember: circulation = lubrication!

Pomegranates

Pomegranates contain boatloads of antioxidants, are wonderful for vascular health all throughout the body, and have significant positive effects on ovarian health. They also increase testosterone levels. Pomegranates represent fertility and abundance! Literally when you cut into a pomegranate, it looks like the cross section of an ovary! Pomegranates are so so good for our ovaries!

Goji berries

Goji berries are known to increase testosterone levels. They contain lycopene, the antioxidant responsible for relaxing and dilating blood vessels. Goji berries also increase sperm count as well as improve the vitality of sperm. They help to restore regular ovulatory function and may prevent ovarian aging.

Pumpkin seeds

Pumpkin seeds are high in the micronutrient zinc which is one of the most important minerals for reproductive health. Zinc is especially important
for men and improving sperm quality.

Chia seeds

Chia seeds are natural testosterone boosters and are high in fatty acids which are the building blocks of our hormone production.

Walnuts/almonds

Walnuts and almonds contain arginine, which is an amino acid that is converted into nitric oxide, the chemical that is readily released during arousal and orgasm. Nitric oxide is dilating and relaxing to our blood vessels, and is very beneficial for our reproductive organs. Walnuts and almonds are also rich in fatty acids that are essential for hormone production.

Mangoes

Mangoes are rich in antioxidants and bioflavonoids, high in vitamin C and vitamin B6, which is important for progesterone production.

Oysters

Oysters are a well known aphrodisiac due to their high content of zinc and bioavailable copper. These micronutrients are important for the health of the reproductive organs and help increase motility and morphology of sperm.

Figs

Figs are high in manganese and are tender, fleshy and succulent. They are rich in amino acids known to increase stamina, as well as high in the micronutrients iron and potassium. They have been revered as an aphrodisiac in many ancient cultures.

Arugula

Arugula is a surprising libido-enhancing food, as it aids in arousal, boosts testosterone production, and acts as a binder to harmful chemicals/toxins that may have negative effects on the endocrine system.

Avocados

Avocadoes are rich in vitamin E which is beneficial for the reproductive organs in both men and women. They boost vitality, help maintain optimal energy levels, and the healthy fats present in avocado help with lubrication and maintaining the integrity of the semi-permeable cell membrane present on each and every one of our cells.

Cherries

Cherries help with pheromone production and promote healthy blood flow to the reproductive organs. They are very high in antioxidants and protect from free radical damage. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, cherries are used to build Qi and boost blood circulation.

Chili Peppers

Chili peppers contain a compound called capsaicin, which naturally generates heat when consumed. Capsaicin boosts testosterone levels and increases libido. Chili peppers also act as natural painkillers and help with the release of endorphins, the neurotransmitters that contribute to happiness and a sense of wellbeing. Eating chili peppers causes the heart rate to rise and body temperature levels to rise, creating a thermogenic effect on the body.

Durian Fruit

Durian fruit has potent fertility and libido-enhancing effects. Durian supports estrogen production, which is important for a healthy libido and vaginal lubrication. It boosts sex drive, increases stamina, and improves sperm motility. Durian is known as the "fertility superfood", as it contains many nutrients that are important for optimal reproductive health. Durian has an extremely potent smell, so be aware that it is supposed to smell slightly unpleasant! It's definitely supposed to smell like that lol, so you heard it here first: you've been warned!

Papaya

Papaya is an interesting libido-enhancing food, in that it resembles the female genitalia and has a rare flavor. It has sensory appeal, as it is fleshy and sensual and thereby induces dopamine release, which is one of our feel good neurotransmitters. Its rich in vitamin C and magnesium, and people who consume papaya regularly report increased libido and stamina!

These foods are a fabulous way to stoke your sexual fires! Not only do they help our libidos, but they contain lots of important micronutrients, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that are amazing for our overall health, vitality and wellbeing beyond the bedroom benefits.

Incorporate them often, switch them up (the body loves variety!), and notice how they make you feel in general, and in your genitals!

Your sex drive is something you have to nurture. Just like staying strong at the gym is something you will incorporate always, prioritizing your libido is something you will cultivate and nurture your whole life long!

Which of these foods are you going to enjoy tonight?! Tell me in the comments below! Happy Humping! 😉😉😉

Yours In Abundant Health!

xoxo,

Emily 😊
