Show Your Liver Some Love

May 06, 2020

This is one of my all time favorite juice recipes. It is SO SIMPLE and SO DELICIOUS and an amazing way to love on your liver a little bit!! And it features one of my absolute favorite veggies in the world — BEETS!

BEETS ARE AN AMAZING LIVER TONIC BECAUSE THEY ACT AS BLOOD CLEANSERS! ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO SUPPORT THE BLOOD, SUPPORTS THE LIVER!

Beets are full of amazing things like folate, potassium, vitamin C, betalains, lycopene, pectin, fiber, vitamin K! The list goes on, but those are the big ones.

Betalains stimulate the liver to produce more glutathione, and glutathione is the body’s number one crazy amazing antioxidant responsible for detoxification, maintaining integrity of our DNA, powering our mitochondria, and sweeping out poisons.

And with all the toxic burden we have being humans in 2020, that just means our poor livers need a little extra help to do their 500 functions everyday to keep you living, breathing, thriving, surviving. It is that important.

So show your liver a little love with this juice recipe, okay?

Easy Beet Juice Recipe

Ingredients

  • one bunch of beets (with the green tops!)

  • one bunch parsley

  • 2 lemons

  • 2-3 inches of ginger (or more if you’re my boo who eats ginger by the spoonful)

  • 1 green apple

Directions

Rinse your produce.

Roughly chop the leafy green tops of your beets (including the purple stem).

Chop your beets into 1-2 inch chunks (depending on the size/durability of your juicer, you may need to go smaller).

Cut your lemons into halves, then quarter the halves.

Toss everything in your juicer

Be careful not to stain your shirt

Enjoy the zingy/tingly/spicy feeling of supercharging your cells with amazing beety/lemony/gingery goodness!!

Would love to hear from you in the comments!! Let me know if you tried this recipe and what you thought!!
