SNOW DAY!!!

Apr 10, 2019

How often do we as adults get snow days anymore?? I remember how awesome it was when my sister and I were kids, and mom would sneak into our room and gently nudge us awake, letting us know that school was cancelled for the day and that we could sleep in a little later if we wanted. It was pure heaven! Like the most fun thing ever … knowing that:::

a) school was cancelled and sweet an extra day to finish homework and um, hello, NOT go to class!!! and

b) we could play in the snow ALL DAY if we wanted to, making igloos and snow angels and having snowball fights … man how much fun was being a kid in the Midwest??!

I’m so happy to say that today is reminiscent of those good ole days, with a slight adulting twist on it.

I woke up to a very dreary sky peaking into my bedroom through the skylight above my side of the bed.  I was soo cozy there on the Casper, and even though I had gotten a full night’s sleep, I decided to just lie there half awake/half dreaming and enjoy the laziness of a cold, gray, don’t-have-to-go-to-work-today-on-this-awesome-snow-day kind of morning.

I love the days where I can laze around in my bathrobe (thank you Secret Santa Teresa for gifting me the coziest robe I have ever owned!) and take my sweet time doing evvveerrryyythingggg.  It took me a solid half hour to get out of bed.  Another solid half hour to finish my warm lemon water.  Then another half hour to actually make my breakfast.  I’m trying this whole mindfulness-while-eating thing (and actually taking the time to chew my food… you should try it sometime!!), so it actually did take me a half hour to eat my breakfast.  Still in the bathrobe, btw.  Then I got some awesome news…

MY BOO WAS COMING HOME EARLY ON ACCOUNT OF THE SNOW!!!  HE GETS A SNOW DAY TOO!!!  WHICH MEANS WE GET A SNOW DAY TOGETHER!!! OMGGG!!!  YAYYYY!!!!!

Now the snow is really coming down. Grocery stores are closing, power outages are happening, and the dumpy old diner behind our house that literally never closes, has closed. The only obvious thing to do at this point is to change out of my bathrobe into a hoodie and some sweatpants (I’m actually a 6th grade prepubescent boy lol), curl up with my bub, take a nap, and listen to the snowfall hitting my skylight.

My snow days don’t consist of snow angels and snowball fights anymore, but real live angels (boo) and cuddle parties. Adulting can be really fun, especially when it involves a built in lazy day with the one you love. I love when nature tells us all to slow down and enjoy the peace and comfort of home. I will never take days like today for granted.

How do you enjoy your snow days?!

With Love, Snow, and Cuddle Parties!

Xoxo,

Emily 😊
