The Basics Are So Basic (and in the best way!)

Most of us are extremely well-intentioned.

We try really hard to live a healthy lifestyle. 

We know all about the benefit of greens, movement, hydration, and this and that and yeah yeah yeah but summer.

And the holidays.

And the baby showers.

And the engagement partays.

And the weddings.

And epic girls’ nights.

And the happy hours.

And the birthday celebrations.

And the sweet vaycay in Southeast Asia.

And it was a shitty day at work.

And anxiety and fear because the world is batshit cray right now.

 

Life gets in the way.  It will ALWAYS get in the way.  And it is of utmost importance that you hear this right now.

 

ITS OKAY WHEN YOU FALL OFF THE WAGON.

ITS EVEN A VERY IMPORTANT PART OF THE WELLNESS GAME.

AS LONG AS YOU BRUSH YOURSELF OFF, GET BACK ON THE HITCH, AND LOVE YOURSELF FIERCELY THROUGH THE MOMENT

 

The Basics are the pillars of a healthy lifestyle.

They are your anchors to come back to.

They are the steel beams in your foundation. They are a roadmap back to your goals when work sucks, your team lost, or the 5th happy hour of the week is happening.  They are the foundation from which you build everything else upon.

 

And we all lose sight of them at one point or another. I even think it’s a good thing to lose sight occasionally! Because then when you get back on track, you gain CONFIDENCE in knowing that you CAN get yourself together.

You have just shown yourself a bright and shining example of perseverance and course correction.

You have just shown yourself that you CAN trust yourself.  And when we trust ourselves, we can literally do anything we set our sights to.

 


The Basics

 

Eat a balanced diet (protein/fat/fruits and veggies at every meal)

Eat three meals a day

Limit alcohol and caffeine

Drink ½ your weight in ounces every day in high quality, filtered water

Get 8 hours of sleep

Limit your toxic exposure

Take high quality supplements

Get outside for fresh air daily

Practice gratitude

Meditate

Move your body in whatever way feels best to you

Partake in work you love

Be of service to others

Walk

Daily nonnegotiable self care

Spend time with dear friends and loved ones

Hug the people you love

Floss

Journal

Appreciate yourself for all of the wonder you are

 

When you’re lost, fallen off the wellness wagon, or polishing off the end of the tiramisu from your sister’s birthday, just bring it back to the basics.  The keys to sustainable living are right here at your fingertips.
